While the Premier League says goodbye to Leicester, Leeds, and Southampton, we welcome three new clubs next season: Burnley, Sheffield United, and Luton Town. Every football fan looks forward to watching the promoted clubs and seeing how they do in the biggest league in the world. Burnley and Sheffield United competed in the Premier League recently, but for Luton Town, this is a new challenge.

After crashing out of the Premier League at the end of the 2021/22 season, Burnley find themselves right back in the Premier League after a year in the Championship. What was once known as a “kick it up the pitch and hope” tactic under Sean Dyche, Burnley took the time in the lower division to change their style of play under Vincent Kompany. The Clarets dominated possession, completed lots of passes, and controlled the tempo of the game from minute one to 90.

Burnley’s new system worked wonders for them as they destroyed the Championship, winning the league with 101 points. The question is whether their new system will work in the Premier League. Knowing Burnley’s tactic is one thing, but being able to cope with it is another issue. Under Kompany, Burnley should have no problem staying up next season and with a good transfer budget each summer, Burnley and Kompany could become a force to be reckoned with in the next few seasons.

Sheffield United

After a fairytale promotion to the Premier League back in 2019, Sheffield United only lasted two seasons before crashing back down the Championship after the 2020/21 season ending with an embarrassing 23 points. It took them two more seasons but they are back.

Their campaign in the 2019/20 season was successful ending in ninth place with 54 points. Sheffield United will want to repeat that season but it will all come down to whether or not the board gives the manager the money he needs to improve the squad. The squad they have now is too similar to the one that got The Blades relegated and unless some major signings are made, sorry Sheffield fans but you might be going back down!

Luton Town

What a story! Nine years ago Luton were in non-league football, now they are in the big leagues. Luton Town earned promotion to the Premier League after beating Coventry on penalties on Saturday. Jordan Clark put Luton ahead after 23 minutes until Gustavo Hamer equalized in the 66th minute. After 11 perfect penalties, Coventry’s Fankaty Dabo smashed the ball over the crossbar to secure a victory for Luton Town.

This is truly special! To put the incredulity into perspective: Luton Town has to spend 10 million pounds this summer so that their stadium, Kenilworth Road, is up to Premier League standard. The stadium only seats about 10,000 people and fans basically have to enter by walking through someone's backyard! Talk about a true neighborhood club!

Will Luton stay up? It all depends on summer spendings. One thing is for certain, if they end up surviving their first season, passion from both the players and fans will be a major factor. As a football club, you don’t climb up England's top divisions in nine years without passion and heart. Luton Town’s dream has finally come true and their players will be determined to let the dream live on for many more years!
