The 2023/24 season is coming to a close for almost every league in the football world and we have seen some worthy champions across the biggest leagues in Europe. But who did it best? Let’s look back at every winning team’s season:
Premier League - Manchester City

Starting off strong with the best team in the world, Manchester City. There is not much to say except that this was expected; City owns the Premier League and they are in no rush to give it up. Pep Guardiola and his players showed their class throughout the season and narrowly beat Arsenal to their fourth Premier League trophy in a row. There were times throughout the season when it seemed as though Arsenal would stop the Citizens, but that City team never gives up. The likes of Phil Foden and Erling Haaland walked all over every team they came up against and a mid-season re-introduction of Kevin De Bruyne from injury aided the blue team to an inevitable title. As I stated in my last article, Man City will be the dominant force of the English division for years to come.
La Liga - Real Madrid

Another winner that seemed inevitable, Real Madrid. One of the most famous football clubs in history, Madrid added another La Liga title to their illustrious trophy cabinet. Carlo Ancelloti has Madrid playing sparkling football with the likes of Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Junior, two players who wear that famous white and gold shirt with pride. It is no surprise that Madrid is in the Champions League final again and will be hoping to make it 15 UCL titles in their history. For a while it seemed that we were going to witness a Leicster-esc season for dark horses Girona who led the league for a while, Xavi’s Barcelona were also up there. Ultimately, Los Blancos always find a way to win, and win they did.
Serie A - Inter Milan

What was once a team that lived under the intimidating shadow of Juventus is now laying the famous old lady to rest. Inter Milan has landed a spot amongst Europe's elite after their upturn in form in recent years. Inter walked all over the league this year and earned another Serie A trophy to their cabin. Their 19-point gap (which can grow to 21) displayed their dominant nature. Inter had come off of a disappointing Champions League loss to Manchester City and an unconventional third-place finish in Serie A last season and the club was determined to give the fans something to celebrate this time around. Inter have proven their class in Italy, but with a few additions and more time, it will not take long before we see them dominating Europe once again.
Bundesliga - Bayer Leverkusen

Now this is a team to talk about! Bayer “Neverkusen” put their unfortunate nickname to bed with their historic Bundesliga win this season, they are the first team in 12 years to de-throne Bayern Munich. That is not the only historic part of their season, Leverkusen went unbeaten in the Bundesliga. Their “never say die” attitude was second to none as they scored plenty of goals in the 88th minute and beyond. Xabi Alonso’s managerial career has skyrocketed after this season, clubs will be lining up to secure his services once he feels that his time at Leverkusen is over. As for the players, their market value and popularity around Europe has increased drastically and some will be looking for a transfer to a bigger club this summer.
Ligue 1 - PSG

Not a surprise, but congratulations to PSG on winning yet another Ligue 1 title. A few weeks ago, French superstar Kylian Mbappé announced that he was leaving PSG after this season. The Frenchman would have wanted to leave the Parisians with a Champions League title but after their semi-final loss to Dortmund, a league title will have to do. PSG does not hold much history, but it has been over a decade since Qatar bought the club and as they watch Man City dominant world football with their immense Middle Eastern wealth, PSG owners understandably are impatiently waiting for their success, but with a squad of individuals, it will not be easy to win major trophies. Until PSG starts acting as a team and not as a brand, Ligue 1 titles will remain their only reasonable achievements.
