As the 2023/2024 season draws to a conclusion, clubs will be eager to search the global market for players to strengthen their squads. Every sports fan yearns to feel the highly anticipated adrenaline from a ‘HERE WE GO!’, from Fabrizio Romano, signaling the start of a new era for players and clubs. This season, the market is filled with young stars, world-class talent, and hidden gems, but exactly who am I talking about? Here is my list of potential players clubs should look to bring in this summer:

 Victor Osimhen

This one is no surprise; Osimhen has been hitting the papers for two years now as the Nigerian's goal contributions continue to arrive. The 25-year-old has enjoyed a groundbreaking come-up in recent years for Napoli after their title-winning season last year where the Nigerian played a massive part in said success. After committing to Napoli last summer, it has been an uncomfortable season for the forward: his goals have dried up a little bit, Napoli sits in a worrying eighth place position, and the forward has dealt with puzzling social media criticism from his own club! Nevertheless, Osimhen has proven himself worthy of world-class labels from the media and will be looking to take his goals elsewhere, potentially in the Premier League…perhaps to a Chelsea side that looks dangerous but need a 20+ goal striker next season.

João Neves

A bit of an unconventional one considering some people may not have heard about the 19-year-old from Benfica, but he is certainly one to follow this summer. Neves has burst onto the scene as a teenager for Benfica and has helped the club challenge for the Portuguese league title and reach the last eight of the Europa League. Neves has appeared in 52 matches for Benfica this season and his performances have earned him global recognition. The only negative part of Neves will be his price tag. Since his contract will not expire until 2028, Benfica will be in no rush to sell the Portuguese midfielder and will require upwards of 100 million euros to even consider letting him go. As of now, Manchester United is closely watching Neves amid ongoing midfield issues this past season for the Red Devils, whether new owners INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe can afford such a signing is another issue, if they can, what a signing it can be potentially.

Alphonso Davies

A man who needs no introduction whatsoever. From the MLS five years ago to the German giants Bayern Munich is quite an accomplishment most MLS players fail to achieve. Within those five years, Davies has led his team to four Bundesliga and German Supercups titles, one DFB Pokal, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup, and an illustrious UEFA Champions League trophy in 2020. On top of all those accolades, Davies was able to lead Canada to their first appearance at the World Cup in 2022 where he scored the first-ever Canadian goal in the competition. Needless to say, Davies has accomplished a lot for club and country. However, as Davies inches closer to his prime footballing years and other teams in Germany and Europe start to overthrow Bayern Munich, the Canadian will be looking for a move away from Bayern and reports are saying that Real Madrid are favorites to seal the signature of the left-back.

Connor Gallagher

This is a bit of a surprise addition to the list but yes, Connor Gallagher could be a key signing for whoever wants him. The British midfielder has been at the top of Chelsea’s transfer list for a while now but he has continued at his boyhood club. This season, due to recurring injuries to club captain Reece James, Gallagher has taken the role of interim captain for the Blues and he has excelled. Due to funding issues, Chelsea will remain keen on selling Gallagher despite his performances this season. Plenty of Premier League clubs will be lined up to sign the midfielder. Gallagher has proven himself this season and he deserves to move to a club that will value him, he still has a good amount of years left. This signing would be worth it, especially for a West Ham or a newly-promoted Leicester City.

Marcus Rashford

The boy from Manchester Who was supposed to bring United back to the top of the footballing world, unfortunately for the player who was once a kid about to make his debut for United in 2016 against Midtjylland in the Europa League, his career has not panned out well. Rashford has had his moments for United, but his inconsistency has hurt him. One season he is unstoppable, the next he is walking around, head down, without a care in the world. With new owners at Old Trafford, Rashford could be heading out of his boyhood club in search of a new chapter, PSG perhaps…

Virgil Van Dijk + Mohammed Salah

If it was not for Jurgen Klopp’s surprise exit, these two would not be on my list (at least not Virgil Van Dijk). These two played pivotal roles in Liverpool’s recent domination of football. They gave Klopp their full trust and support but now that the German coach is leaving, that may pave the way for the pair. Salah has been linked to a move away from Liverpool since last season with Saudi Arabia being the preferred destination. Van Dijk has served as Liverpool's captain for a few years now and he has shown his class, definitely one of the best defenders of this generation. Klopp's departure has put the Dutchman's future in jeopardy and it may be time for a completely new era at Liverpool, a destination for Van Dijk is unknown as of right now.
