Week two is done and what a week it was! Unexpected wins, red cards, and so much more! In case you missed the action, here is the recap of this week's Premier League fixtures:
Nottingham Forest 2-1 Sheffield United

Nottingham Forest secured their first win of the campaign against Sheffield United in a thrilling encounter that ended 2-1. Taiwo Awoniyi opened the scoring just two minutes into the game, marking his second goal of the season. The first half was dominated by Nottingham Forest.
Sheffield United scored at the start of the second half thanks to Ben Hamer’s strike which sailed into the top corner. The game remained tied until the 90th minute when Serge Aurier delivered a precise cross, allowing Chris Wood to head the ball into the net and secure a 2-1 victory for Forest.
Fulham 0-3 Brentford

Brentford smashed Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage. Thomas Frank’s side showed exceptional form, with Yoane Wissa capitalizing on a poor backpass from Issa Diop to make it 1-0 on the stroke of halftime.
A Bryan Mbuemo double in the second half made sure all three points went to Brentford. Wissa and Mbuemo, the strike partners are putting on a show for Bee’s fans. Fulham’s captain Tim Ream received a red card, adding to their woes.
Liverpool 3-1 Bournemouth

Liverpool clinched their first game of the season against Iraola’s Bournemouth with a 3-1 triumph at Anfield. Despite an early setback, where Antoine Semenyo scored for Bournemouth after just three minutes, Liverpool rallied strongly. Goals from Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah, and Diogo Jota secured the win for Klopp’s side. Alexis MacAllister’s red card due to a poor challenge on Ryan Christie will see him miss the next three matches.
Wolves 1-4 Brighton

Brighton continued their high-scoring form by defeating Wolves 4-1 at the Molyneux. Kaoru Mitoma's exceptional solo goal gave Brighton the lead. Wolves appeared sluggish and disinterested throughout the match.
It only got worse in the second half when a Pervis Estupinan strike, followed by a double from Solly March gave the Seagulls a 4-0 lead. Wolves forward Hwang offered the fans something to cheer but it was merely a constellation goal. An afternoon to forget for the home team.
Tottenham 2-0 Manchester United

Tottenham displayed their superiority over Manchester United in Ange’s first home game as Spurs’ manager. It was a tale of two halves as United bossed the first one. Despite a penalty shout for handball on Christian Romero, which VAR dismissed, Spurs took control in the second half.
Spurs midfielder Pape Sarr smashed the ball into the roof of Onana’s net, giving Tottenham the lead. The London club continued to dominate the match and a Lisandro Martinez own-goal secured the win for Spurs.
Manchester City 1-0 Newcastle

Man City claimed their second win of the season with a narrow 1-0 victory against Newcastle. Julien Alvarez’s 31st-minute goal proved to be the difference. Despite a slow and defensive start from Newcastle in the first half, they grew into the game during the second period. However, they couldn’t find the equalizing goal, leaving City to take all three points.
Aston Villa 4-0 Everton

Aston Villa put on a dominant display, thrashing Everton 4-0 at Villa Park. John McGuinn, Douglas Luiz, Leon Bailey, and Jhon Duran found the net for Villa. Everton’s struggles were evident as they seemed ill-equipped to compete in the Premier League, especially after Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury. The victory showcased Villa’s prowess and left Everton with significant challenges ahead.
West Ham 3-1 Chelsea

In an unexpected turn of events, West Ham beat Chelsea 3-1 at the London stadium. Nayef Aguerd gave West Ham an early lead, but Carney Chukwuemeka equalized for Chelsea. Enzo Fernandez saw his penalty saved by Alfonso Areola before halftime.
Despite going down to 10 men, West Ham capitalized on Chelsea’s struggles, with Michael Antonio and Lucas Paqueta scoring to secure the win. The result continued Pochettino’s search for his first victory as Chelsea’s manager.
Crystal Palace 0-1 Arsenal

Arsenal managed to secure a narrow 1-0 win against Crystal Palace, despite being reduced to 10 men in the second half due to Tomiyasu’s red card. Martin Ødegaard’s penalty proved to be the decisive goal. Palace pushed for an equalizer in the second half but could not breach Arsenal’s defense. This victory marked a positive start for Michael Arteta’s side, who secured their second win in two games.
